Why isn’t the public told more about how Christians and Muslims in North America, Iraq and Syria are uniting against ISIS? How did they misreport on Israel’s 2014 assault on Gaza? Where’s the information on competing gas pipelines fueling the crisis in Syria? And, aside from further cementing the power of the two-party status quo, what does the media get from purposefully excluding ballot-qualified alternative party and independent candidates?
This list of questions could go on and on, so it’s no wonder that a 2014 Gallup poll revealed that public trust of the corporate media has hit an all-time low. And the public is right: Bold, honest watchdog journalism is needed now more than ever.
