Dear Avid MintPress News Reader,

The corporate-owned media habitually under-reports or completely ignores key issues: Where was the corporate-owned media on pro-Israel and Saudi lobby groups paying news outlets to promote anti-Iran deal propaganda? Why isn’t the public told more about how Christians and Muslims in North AmericaIraq and Syria are uniting against ISIS? How did they misreport on Israel’s 2014 assault on Gaza? Where’s the information on competing gas pipelines fueling the crisis in Syria? And, aside from further cementing the power of the two-party status quo, what does the media get from purposefully excluding ballot-qualified alternative party and independent candidates?
This list of questions could go on and on, so it’s no wonder that a 2014 Gallup poll revealed that public trust of the corporate media has hit an all-time low. And the public is right: Bold, honest watchdog journalism is needed now more than ever.
Here at MintPress News, we aim to educate and empower our readers to be the change they wish to see in the world, not scare them nor deliberately mislead them.
Through the lens of social justice and human rights, we produce in-depth reporting on how these dynamics impact the world. In addition to our print coverage, we’ve shared video stories from Palestinian refugee camps in Iraq and the streets of Baltimore during the protests for justice for Freddie Gray. And we recently rolled out “Behind the Headline,” a new video series hosted by MintPress Editor-in-Chief Mnar Muhawesh.
It hasn’t been easy, though. We’ve received heat from powerful governments, special interest groups, neoconservative spokespeople, and even Fox News talking heads. There have been attempts to discredit our reporting on Israel’s continuous bombardment of Gaza, Western nations and their proxies’ roles in destabilizing Syria for access to gas and oilthe buy-out of our two-party electoral system, and the money-making sham known as "the war on drugs.
We wear these reactions and attacks as a badge of honor because it’s exactly this kind of reporting that allows us to impact and reach millions of people around the world every month through our website and social media channels.
And in order to continue to support our team of dedicated journalists, keep our servers running, maintain our credibility as an independent news outlet that’s not driven by special interests, and circumvent attempts at censorship, we need your help.
Make a one-time contribution or become a monthly sustainer to help us drive citizen-supported journalism. Whether or not you’re able to donate, we invite you to actively engage with us on social media by “Liking,” commenting on, sharing, and retweeting our posts to help increase our viral reach.
Thank you for all you do in the struggle for peace, justice, love, liberty, equality, a green planet, and the unification of the human family.

In solidarity,
Mnar Muhawesh
