Palestinians to UNESCO: Western Wall Is Part of Al-Aqsa
"See how they are repaying us by coming to drive us out of the possession you gave us as an inheritance." (2 Chronicles 20:11)
This week, the Palestinian Authority (PA) will take another step in its initiative to deprive the Jewish People of their holy places by seeking Islamic authority over the holiest site of Jewish prayer: the Kotel (Western Wall).
The Jewish People consider the Kotel holy because it is a remnant of the Second Temple.
Through a proxy contingent, the PA has submitted a new proposal to UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) that claims the Jewish Temple's last remaining external-support wall is actually part of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The proposal is set for a vote at UNESCO this week.
Apart from the Temple Mount, the Western Wall, also known as the Kotel,
is the most significant site in the world for the Jewish People. We know
that it is the last remnant of our Temple.
The claim of Islamic ownership also extends to the Mughrabi Gate at the Western Wall plaza, which is the only point of access to the Temple Mount for non-Muslims.
Six Arab states — Algeria, Egypt, Kuwait, Morocco, Tunisia and the United Arab Emirates — submitted the proposal on behalf of the Palestinians because they are not members of the committee.
This move can be seen as part of the Palestinian attempt to seek nationhood without negotiation with Israel. Another goal is to divide Jerusalem to make it the Palestinian capital, placing the entire Old City of Jerusalem in Palestinian hands.
Israeli sources told Ynet that the PA also intends to move the bid to the UNESCO plenum, the organization's full assembly, where the PA is recognized as a state.
Until the 1920s, the Western Wall was never of interest to the Palestinians. The Jerusalem Mufti attributed Islamic holiness to it only after the Balfour Declaration was signed in 1917, which declared that "His Majesty's government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people."
An ultra-Orthodox Jewish man kisses the Western Wall,
the last remnant of the Second Temple.
The Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) writes that the Mufti's scheme was a response to Zionist groups who emphasized that the Western Wall is "a national symbol of the Jewish People, in addition to its [Jewish] religious significance."
The Mufti, then, might have been one of the first to suggest that the Western Wall was the spot where (according to the Quran) Muhammad tied his winged animal ("buraq" in Arabic) upon which he ascended to heaven.
The PA's proposal claiming the Western Wall for Al-Aqsa would have the UN cultural group rename the Kotel the "Buraq Plaza," which Muslims called the structure in the 1920s, trying to assert a claim to it, writes Arutz Sheva.
Were UNESCO to hand authority over this area to the Jordanian Islamic Waqf and somehow override Israeli sovereignty, all non-Muslims would likely be barred entrance to the Temple Mount.
Joseph's Tomb (Kever Yosef) is located at the eastern entrance to the
valley that separates Mounts Gerizim and Ebal. It is 325 yards northwest
of Jacob's Well, on the outskirts of the West Bank city of Nablus, the area
in which the Biblical city of Shechem was located.
UN Discusses Terrorism After Arsonist Set Fire to Joseph’s Tomb
"I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves." (Matthew 10:16)
The United Nations Security Council held an emergency meeting on Friday to discuss the intensifying Palestinian violence in Israel, which includes the burning of Joseph’s Tomb on Thursday night.
As pressing fears make it difficult for Israelis to enjoy normal activities, such as shopping to prepare for the Shabbat, or taking a bus to work, or bringing children to school, Israel's new Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon emphasized the need for a "loud and clear" condemnation of Palestinian incitement.
Last Wednesday, in a message to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the UN Security Council, Danon said about the current wave of "lone-wolf" Palestinian terror attacks, "Such acts of pitiless slaughter do not occur in a vacuum. They are a direct result of Palestinian incitement, deliberately directed to inflame Palestinian children's minds with hate."
Danny Danon (UN photo by Mark Garten)
Danon told The Algemeiner at his New York office that he would combat the moral equivalency used by many in the UN and by other national governments, including the United States, when discussing the conflict in Israel. (Algemeiner)
"When someone says that he calls on all sides to stop the violence, I will fight that,” Danon said. “It’s not all sides. It’s one side who is the aggressor — who’s sending kids to murder other kids. And the other side is protecting itself."
Danon told the organization on Friday that it should promote peaceful negotiations as a way to resolving differences between Palestinians and Israelis.
“If you are serious about promoting peace, if you are really committed to advancing co-existence in our region, make a clear statement against the incitement that fuels terror, support direct negotiations,” Danon said.
At a press conference before the meeting, the new UN ambassador said that if there is to be peace in the region, Palestinian children need to be prepared for that rather than brainwashed to commit murder of ordinary Israeli citizens.
“When a Palestinian child opens the television he doesn’t see Barney or Donald Duck, he sees murderers portrayed as heroes,” he said. “When he opens a textbook to do his homework, he doesn't learn about math and science, he is being taught to hate.”
Showing the journalists a drawing entitled “How to stab a Jew,” the ambassador said, “We talk a lot about incitement here in the UN. You can see with this picture what incitement looks like.”
“Whoever avoids direct negotiations is looking for an escape hatch,” he added. “Abbas’ favorite kind of escape is to spread slanderous lies about the situation on the Temple Mount, especially about the status quo.”

Nations, briefs the press on the Middle East situation, including the
Palestinian question. (UN photo by Loey Felipe)
In response to France's proposal to place international observers on the Temple Mount, a proposal the Security Council will consider this Thursday, Danon emphasized that Israel will not agree to an international presence on the Temple Mount since it would not “contribute to stability.”
He also told journalists that “an international presence on the Temple Mount would violate the status quo of the last several decades.” (Haaretz)
While Danon did not attend the UN meeting Friday night, his deputy, David Roet, did attend.
“We face an enemy who is willing to die in order to kill,” Roet said. “Israel is taking every necessary means to defend its citizens and is responding proportionately to these attacks.”
David Yitshak Roet, Deputy Permanent Representative of Israel to the UN
The Palestinian representative at the UN, Riyad Mansour, however, asked the Security Council to “intervene to end this aggression against the defenseless Palestinian people.”
“Israel, the occupying power, is responsible for bringing us to this dangerous situation, and we have to hold it responsible for its illegal violations of international law,” he said, blaming the violence on Israeli settlers’ “provocations” on the Temple Mount. In reality, the provocations to which he refers are simply Jewish people visiting the Mount.
“We believe that this terror and aggression will not weaken our determination to fight against the occupation peacefully and achieve our sovereign state with east Jerusalem as its capital,” Mansour added.
Palestinians, however, do not seek peace and do not wish to protect freedom of religion at Israel’s holy sites, but to erase all evidence of the Jewish connection to the Holy Land.

guard in November 2009. (Photo by Shuki)
This was clearly illustrated overnight Thursday, just ahead of the day of rage called by Hamas. Palestinian rioters set fire to Joseph’s Tomb compound, which is located near the Biblical city of Shechem.
Even though the Palestinians claim most of Israel's holy sites as their own, and Joseph is venerated as a prophet is Islam, Joseph’s Tomb has special importance in Judaism. Joseph (the son of Isaac) is the patriarch of the twelve tribes of Israel while Ishmael (Isaac’s brother) is the patriarch of the twelve Ishmaelite tribes that became the Arab nations.
“The burning and desecration of Joseph’s Tomb last night is a blatant violation and contradiction of the basic value of freedom of worship. The IDF will take all measures to bring the perpetrators of this despicable act to justice, restore the site to its previous condition and ensure that the freedom of worship returns to Joseph’s Tomb,” IDF Spokesman Lt. Col. Peter Lerner said in a statement Friday morning.
“The fire illustrates what would happen to Jerusalem’s holy places if they were in the hands of the Palestinian Authority (PA)," Foreign Ministry Director-General Dore Gold said. "Only Israel can protect the places that are holy to all religions in Jerusalem.”
“The attack is reminiscent of the action of Islamist extremists in Afghanistan and Libya,” Gold said.
Flames engulf Joseph's Tomb (GPO capture)
Avigdor Liberman, who is the head of the Yisrael Beytenu party, said, "The arson of Joseph's Tomb tonight proves that the management of the Palestinian Authority is no different from that of ISIS (Islamic State), and after the Palestinian youths took machetes and knives to kill Jews, now they're also burning holy places and historical heritage sites, just like ISIS members do to heritage sites of the human civilization in Iraq and Syria."
"The arson at Joseph's Tomb by a Palestinian mob that was incited by the lies of [PA Chairman Mahmoud] Abbas and led by Fatah activists only raises the surprise over those who even today refuse to see the bloody writing on the burned walls which says that Abbas never was, is or will be a partner, and yet they still call and are ready to meet and speak with him."
"This couldn't have happened without PA involvement," he emphasized.
“The tomb is not under Israeli sovereignty, and in spite of that, the Palestinians set it on fire. They are trying to rewrite history by harming Jewish holy places that bear testament to our deep connection to the Land of Israel,” Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely said.

Although the tomb is currently under the control of the Palestinian Authority, it should be under Jewish control according to the 1994 Oslo Accords.
Jewish worship has been severely limited at the tomb ever since the start of the Second Intifada in October 2000, after an Israeli border policeman was killed there during clashes with Palestinians.
"The arson of one of the holiest sites to the Jewish nation is an additional low, and the result of Palestinian incitement," Agriculture Minister Uri Ariel saidFriday.
"Even as the Palestinians shamelessly lie about (Israel) harming the status quo on the Temple Mount, they themselves are burning and desecrating the holy sites of Israel, and this cannot be forgiven," he added.

Netanyahu Tackles Abbas' Lies
"Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment. Deceit is in the hearts of those who plot evil, but those who promote peace have joy." (Proverbs12:19–20)
The 13-year-old Palestinian who stabbed a 13-year-old Jewish boy while he was riding a bicycle is healing up at a Jerusalem hospital, despite claims by Mahmoud Abbas and other Palestinians that the very-much-alive Ahmed Manasrah is a victim, murdered by Israel.
On Wednesday, Abbas accused Israel of "occupation and aggression" and of "terrorizing our people, homes, trees, holy places and [they] execute our boys in cold blood, as they did with the boy Ahmed Manasrah and other children in Jerusalem and other places."
Israeli police released photos and video of Manasrah, after Abbas declared in a televised night speech that the teenager was killed by Israeli forces, which he said, are practicing the "summary execution of our children."
On October 12, in Jerusalem, Manasrah and his 15-year-old cousin stabbed the 13-year-old bike rider and a 25-year-old Jewish man nearby.

food, his head wrapped in a bandage. His 13-year-old Jewish victim
remains in critical condition. (GPO photo)
On Thursday at a press conference, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned Abbas' remarks about Manasrah.
"Now we have a new big lie; that new big lie is that Israel is executing Palestinians," Netanyahu said. "First of all, he's [Manasrah's] not dead; he's alive. Secondly, he's not innocent; he tried to kill, murder, knife to death an innocent Israeli youngster, 13 years old, riding a bicycle."
"This Palestinian terrorist is now being treated in Hadassah Hospital in Israel," Netanyahu added.
"The only way that we can fight this big lie, all the other lies that are hurled at Israel and spread through the Palestinian social network to the world is to tell the truth," Netanyahu emphasized. "We expect all our friends and anyone concerned with the facts or the truth to look at these facts, to see the truth, and not to draw false symmetry between Israeli citizens and those who'd stab them and knife them to death."
Abbas has said previously that the blood spilled by Palestinian terrorists in Jerusalem is pure. Last Wednesday he stated, "We will continue our political, national and legal fight, and we will not remain tied to agreements that Israel does not respect" — another false claim referring to the Oslo Accords which require the Palestinian Authority and Israel to conduct negotiations with each other for a two-state solution.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
Netanyahu has remained willing to negotiate with Abbas, but Abbas has refused time and time again — a fact that he has distorted in complaints to the United Nations and other internationals by claiming that Netanyahu has rejected peace talks.
The #AhmedMansrahExecution social-media campaign carried Abbas' incitement to the level of second- and third-hand misinformation. Social media has also echoed Abbas' first "big lie," that Israel is trying to change the Temple Mount status quo or destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Israeli officials presented to the assembled journalists what the Temple Mount status quo actually is, giving the numbers of those who visit the Mount every year: 3.5 million Muslims; 200,000 Christians; and 12,000 Jews.
Netanyahu also told journalists Thursday that any other country that saw terrorists attacking with "knives, meat cleavers, axes, trying to kill people on their streets" would respond as Israel has done.
Meanwhile, Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon rebuked the United States State Department's spokesman John Kirby for "nonsense" after Kirby claimed last Wednesday that Israel has utilized "excessive use of force" in stopping terrorists conducting attacks.

Israelis Suit Up for Self-Defense in Response to Palestinian Terror
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." (Joshua 1:9)
The recent wave of terror against Israeli civilians has left many realizing that they cannot wait for official help during a Palestinian terror attack — they must be the help.
Retailers across Israel have sold out of pepper spray, one equipment chain CEO reporting 10,000 canister sales a day, while Israelis have resorted to unique forms of self-protection, carrying oven cleaner, rolling pins and selfie sticks to ward off attackers.
Rikushet CEO Dudi Martin, who said his outdoor-equipment stores previously averaged the daily sale of 100 pepper spray canisters, said there was an "hysterical demand [for non-lethal self-defense tools], mostly for pepper spray." (Israel HaYom)
This thumbs up to knife attacks is just one example of Palestinian media
inciting violence and terrorism.
Martin also reported a 400% increase in the purchase of self-defense products, which amounted to $78,000 in the first full week of October.
"On Monday [of last week], our entire stock of pepper spray sold out. Yesterday [last Tuesday] we got a bit more and it ran out within half an hour. The demand is nationwide. We just opened a branch in Yarka [a Druze village] and everything sold out there, too. We have a longer waiting list than the iPhone 6," Martin told Times of Israel.
Israel Radio on Friday also reported that a store owner sold his entire stock of pepper spray in two days. The owners of Haboleshet Spy Shop, Avi Wachsman and Eyal Daniel sold three weeks' worth of inventory in one day, "about 100 items in total."
"We completely sold out of pepper spray, shockers and clubs," Daniel said.
Israeli civilians have subdued Palestinian and other terrorists with umbrellas and nunchucks, as well, and Simona Weinglass reported for Times of Israelthat one "man was seen with a frying pan tucked into his belt."
On Sunday, a woman used pepper spray to fend off a 21-year-old terrorist at the Beer Sheva bus terminal. Muhanad Al-Aqabi came armed with a knife, a gun and ammunition. After attacking passersby, he shot Golani soldier Sergeant Omri Levy. Snatching his M-16 rifle, he began spraying the crowd with bullets.
Security forces neutralized the terrorist, but an innocent bystander was mistaken for a terrorist and died of his wounds — sadly, not before the crowd beat him and spat on him.

Meanwhile, Israel's Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan eased the process for acquiring a gun license on Thursday, lowering the minimum military or civilian-security ranking requirement from major to lieutenant.
Members of specific military units are also newly eligible, and the ministry is looking at possibly increasing required training sessions from once every three years to once a year.
"Civilians who are trained in the use of firearms double the forces combating terrorism, which is why I acted to ease restrictions right now," said Erdan. "In recent weeks many civilians have helped the Israel Police neutralize terrorists."
Israelis are also being advised to carry their cellphones, but not to get distracted by their phones or even look at them in public.
"The first step towards being safer is to lift your eyes and look around, trying to size up the people around you, looking for people who might be a threat. You do this by using your gut and common sense," said Josh Carr, who is the former commander of the Israel Defense Forces' Krav Maga instructors' school.
While Israelis contact the police about 600 times a day to share concerns, Israeli police are now receiving 25,000 calls a day, reports the Jewish Press.
Rabbi Yisrael Rosen, the founder of the Zomet Institute of Halacha and Technology, which modifies and analyzes technology use in application to Jewish law, said religious Jews are permitted to carry a cell phone on Shabbat because communication can avert real “danger to life.”
Israeli Krav Maga (contact combat or close combat) experts demonstrate
how to defend against a knife attack while on the ground. Krav Maga is
a combat system developed in Israel in the late 1940s.
Israelis are also brushing up on martial arts skills.
On October 7 in a Facebook group, Carr publicly offered a free course "mainly on knife defense but will also include basic fighting skills and how to react in an emergency situation."
Carr received over 1,300 responses, and transformed the offer into a plan for countrywide training sessions with a request for administrative help, giving the first class last week in the central Israel city of Giv’at Shmuel.
Other Krav Maga instructors that have been offering seminars include Jonathan Rabinovich, Amnon Dasa and Zev Cohen. Instructor Oren Mellul has seen interest in his classes from two new students a week to 25–30 people in 10 days. (Times of Israel)
Krav Maga courses are offered around the world and are so effective that a 12-year old girl in London used her training to ward off an attacker earlier this year.
The Iron Dome system intercepts short-range
missiles with a minimal range of 5 km and a
maximum of 70 km.
Fearing Iran, Gulf States Want Israel's Iron Dome
"See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn." (Isaiah 60:2–3)
Alarmed by Iran’s growing military arsenal, six Gulf States have been maneuvering to acquire Israel's tried-and-true Iron Dome self-defense technology — which kept at bay thousands of rockets and missiles from Gaza in 2014.
Interestingly enough, none of the six Gulf countries wanting these Israeli weapons — Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, and Kuwait, all members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) — recognize the Jewish state of Israel.
While not buying the technology directly from Israel's state-owned defense contractor Rafael, the Gulf states have reached out to Israel's weapons-technology subcontractor Raytheon based in the United States.
According to the GCC, these Gulf states are concerned that Iran will use the cash flow that will result from the lifting of sanctions to further arm itself. This potential arming combined with growing cooperation between Iran and Russia is cause for concern.
“Iran has been trying to undermine and topple governments in our region for years,” Bahraini Foreign Minister Khalid bin Ahmed al Khalifa said during a visit to London.
"The strategy appears to be one of saturation to stockpile enough missiles to overwhelm any defense system we build in the Gulf," he told Sam Kiley of Sky News.
David's Sling Weapons System Stunner Missile intercepts target during
inaugural flight test in 2012.
And Iran seems bent on flexing its military muscle.
Two days before the Iranian parliament approved the nuclear deal on October 13, the country tested a precision-guided ballistic missile, which a French Foreign Ministry spokesman called a "worrying message … to the international community."
Indeed, the missile firing violates a United Nations Security Council ban imposed on Iran in 2010 from undertaking "any activity related to ballistic missiles capable of delivering nuclear weapons, including launches." (UN Resolution 1929)
That ban remained in effect until the nuclear deal officially began on adoption day, October 18. Even after that, though, any transfer of missile technology to Iran is supposed to be approved by the UN Security Council.
Iran is not only testing its missile capabilities, it is testing the UN Security Council which approved the Iran deal, to see what they will do about it.
Lacking confidence that the security council can truly curb Iran’s ballistic aspirations, the GCC wants to purchase a defense system effective on short-range as well as longer-range interceptor missiles.
The Arrow is considered one of the most advanced
missile defense programs currently in existence.
According to Sky News, the GCC purchase would include the Iron Dome and David's Sling, as well as the Arrow I and Arrow II — geared to tackle supersonic intercontinental ballistic missiles.
David's Sling, a missile defense system that finished its third round of tests in June, can be deployed in a static location instead of being moved to different high-risk borders, like Israel has had to do with its Iron Dome system. (Aviation Week)
Once David's Sling is installed in Israel, it will be able to deflect the 60–300 km-range missiles and guided ballistic missiles at low, medium and high altitudes. It is expected that it will be used against missiles that Iran has given its Lebanon-based proxy, Hezbollah.
Though the technology will be similar, it would be developed for the GCC to cover a much larger territory than Israel. And although the technology was developed for Israel and even by Israel, the Bahrain foreign minister clarified that the GCC will not work with Israel on any such defense system.
He issued a statement Friday in which he "categorically rejects any suggestion that the Kingdom and its Gulf allies are in negotiation with Israel over matters of defense or otherwise. The GCC is firmly committed to the Arab Peace Initiative and any normalization of relations between the entire Arab region and Israel is conditional on the full withdrawal of Israel from the occupied territories including East Jerusalem."
At such a time as this, your support of Israel and the Jewish People really makes a difference!
Please stand with us in these last days as we bring the Good News of Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus the Messiah) to the Jewish People and Arabs here in Israel and around the world.
“You who bring good news to Zion, go up on a high mountain. You who bring good news to Jerusalem, lift up your voice with a shout, lift it up, do not be afraid; say to the towns of Judah, 'Here is your God!'” (Isaiah 40:9)
"Comfort, comfort My people, says your God. Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed, that her sin has been paid for, that she has received from the Lord’s hand double for all her sins." (Isaiah 40:1–2)
Prayer Alert for the next 9 days: Please pray for Hadas, that she would have a visitation / encounter with the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and be immersed in the Living Waters of the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit).
We believe that Hadas will be a future spiritual leader, including leading Hebrew worship here in Israel, instrumental in bringing thousands into a relationship with Adonai.
Please pray for these others here in Israel who need the same holy encounter with the Messiah as Hadas: Jacky, Miriam, Haya, Talia, Shmuel & Anav.
