France: Policeman and Wife Murdered; ISIS Takes Credit
Witnesses claim the attacker yelled "Allahu Akhbar " as he stabbed the policeman multiple times
Published: June 14th, 2016
A French policeman, Jean-Baptiste Salvaing, 42, was stabbed multiple times, and his wife and son were taken hostage in their home in Magnanville, 35 miles north-west of Paris, on Monday night.
The attacker, a neighbor, stabbed the policeman outside the man’s home. Witnesses say the attacker may have shouted “Allahu Ackbar”, according to an AFP report. The attacker then entered their home and took the wife and son hostage.
At some point, the attacker also killed the policeman’s wife. Their couple’s 3-year-old son was rescued alive by a French SWAT team who stormed the house around midnight.
Reports say the man claimed allegiance to ISIS.
The Isis-linked Amaq News Agency says ISIS has taken credit for the attack, “Islamic State fighter kills deputy chief of the police station in the city of Les Mureaux and his wife with blade weapons near Paris.”
The attacker was identified as Larossi Abballa (25), who already had an arrest conviction for terror, according to The Guardian.
He was sentenced to 3 years in prison, six months suspended in 2013 for helping to recruit jihadists linked to Pakistan and Afghanistan.
And had recently been under police surveillance.
